Survey of Industry Needs

To better understand the industry’s needs, the MDIEC colleges have conducted focus group sessions and surveys involving 176 companies.  The surveys, which were conducted during 2004 and 2005, were conducted in the following seven regions.

• Boston metro area
• Minneapolis metro area
• Anaheim-Irvine (CA) metro area
• Pittsburgh metro area
• Seattle metro area
• Kenosha and Racine (WI) metro areas
• Tampa/St. Petersburg metro area

The survey feedback provided by industry executives identified critical education and training needs in a number of areas.  As a result, the colleges have developed curricula in regulatory affairs and as a result of the industry feedback, plan to develop additional curricula to address the educational needs of technicians involved with quality control, research & development, product development, manufacturing, and technology-related sales.
