The Value Provided by MDIEC
The Medical Device Industry Education Consortium
(MDIEC), which was established in 2005, was formed to develop
and deliver industry-endorsed solutions that address critical
industry-defined technical education and training needs. Representatives
from the medical device industry are working with two-year
colleges (see listing of colleges)
to:
-
Define the critical technician-level education
and training needs and design education and programs that
address those needs.
-
Develop a series of industry-specific education
and training programs that are endorsed by a panel of
top-level industry representatives.
-
Deliver these programs on a consistent basis
to technicians and prospective technicians throughout
the world.
MDIEC is focused primarily on providing education and training
tailored for technicians involved in quality control, research
& development (R&D), product development, manufacturing,
biological/chemical analysis, compliance-related data management,
clinical data management, clinical trials, and technology-related
sales occupations.
The following three new medical device-specific
certificate programs are now being offered:
No other similar education and training programs are designed
to build a workforce that possesses the industry-specific
technical competencies needed to increase the performance
of both existing medical device technicians and transitioning
workers.
