The Value Provided to Industry

The Medical Device Industry Education Consortium (MDIEC), which was established in 2005, was formed to develop and deliver industry-endorsed solutions that address critical industry-defined technical education and training needs.  Representatives from industry and ten technical colleges from the U.S. and Europe(see listing of colleges) have worked together during the last two years to build an organization that can:

  • Identify the critical technician level education and training needs of the medical device industry and design education and programs that address those needs

  • Develop a series of education and training programs that are endorsed by a panel of top-level industry representatives, who will provide guidance throughout the course development process

  • Deliver these programs on a consistent basis to technicians and prospective technicians throughout the world

MDIEC is focused primarily on providing education and training tailored for technicians involved in quality control, research & development (R&D), product development, manufacturing, biological/chemical analysis, compliance-related data management, and technology-related sales occupations.

Introductory and advanced regulatory affairs courses are already available.  Courses are being developed in the following three areas:  (1) quality assurance / quality control, (2) medical device document/information management, (3) clinical data management.
