The Value Provided to Industry
The Medical Device Industry Education Consortium (MDIEC), which was
established in 2005, was formed to develop and deliver industry-endorsed
solutions that address critical industry-defined technical
education and training needs. Representatives from industry
and two-year colleges from six states (see
listing of colleges) have worked together to build an
organization that can:
- Identify the critical technician level education and training
needs of the medical device industry and design education
and programs that address those needs.
- Develop a series of education and training
programs that are endorsed by a panel of top-level industry
representatives, who will provide guidance throughout the
course development process.
- Deliver these programs on a consistent basis
to technicians and prospective technicians throughout the
world.
- Provide a standardized student assessment
process so that industry is assured that students achieve
a consistent level of performance on a national basis.
MDIEC is focused primarily on providing education
and training tailored for technicians involved in quality
control, research & development (R&D), product development,
manufacturing, biological/chemical analysis, compliance-related
data management, and technology-related sales occupations.
MDIEC is now offering the following three new medical device-specific
certificate programs:
- Medical Device Quality Systems
- Documentation Management
